[BIM Software Implementation Case] UAE Pavilion at the Dubai International Expo

Completing the project through collaboration! Introducing case studies of implementation in commercial facility construction.

The National Media Council of the United Arab Emirates adopted the design proposal by architect Santiago Calatrava for the UAE Pavilion at the 2020 Dubai International Expo. In July 2017, Arabtec Construction, a 100% subsidiary of Arabtec Holding, which is responsible for infrastructure development, won the construction contract for the pavilion. Despite facing various challenges, including a very tight deadline and the fact that all major rib materials were cambered, we received positive feedback stating, "Thanks to Tekla Structures and Tekla BIMsight, we were able to complete the project while collaborating effectively." [Challenges] ■ Very tight deadline ■ Composed mostly of beams joined with special specifications ■ All major rib materials are cambered *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Boat Landing

Boat landing of AME-2 and AWG-1! Effective design collaboration has been achieved!

Pinnacle has been appointed as the structural engineering consultant to support the development and structural engineering of safe and reliable boat landings (docks) off the coast of the Netherlands. The main engineering challenge was to install the boat landing on the existing jacket between the sea surface and the platform's "spider deck." The company evaluated the design, as well as wind, wave, tide, and impact conditions, and then analyzed the structure of the boat landing to carry out detailed design using "Tekla Structures." By involving the steel fabricator, vessel operators, and installation and rope access contractors from the structural design and detailed design stages, reliable work was carried out in the manner recommended by the main clamp and frame installation contractors. The cost efficiency was very high, and despite the challenging conditions, there were no accidents, and no modifications were needed on-site. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Bjelgste Office Building

We combine traditional building materials like wood with modern design and manufacturing techniques!

"Birgstad Financial Park" was constructed as an office building for SpareBank 1 in Stavanger, Norway. The above-ground structure uses wood (a natural, renewable, and locally sourced material) as the primary load-bearing element. The floors are made of cross-laminated timber panels, supported by laminated beams and columns. The main wooden components are designed with strength in mind, and through high-precision processing, most of the wood can be directly joined without the use of metal fasteners, thereby shortening the construction process. Thanks to the advanced modeling technology of "Tekla Structures," the beams not only achieve aesthetic beauty but also meet practical requirements. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Karasuma Racecourse Redevelopment Project

Tekla is effective for designing buildings with large curves! Examples from redevelopment projects such as spectator stands.

The redevelopment of the Karasuyama Racecourse is a project to construct world-class facilities. The company responsible for the project is handling everything from design to detailed design, manufacturing, and the construction of the main viewing stand roof using a 45-meter cantilever beam. The very complex roof shape had significant restrictions on deflection and allowable tolerances, but by utilizing "BIM" and "Tekla Structures," they conducted precise detailed design that considered the use of fabrication drawings. [Case Overview] ■ Challenge: The very complex roof shape had significant restrictions on deflection and allowable tolerances. ■ Results - Achieved precise detailed design that considered the use of fabrication drawings. - Tekla is very effective for designing buildings with large curves, like the Karasuyama Racecourse. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Mechanical (Cultural Center)

Adopting an appropriate solution! A case where work was coordinated through open communication.

This project connects two reinforced concrete structures using steel trusses with concrete slabs on each floor. The complexity of the joints in the steel structure, as well as the joints between the steel and reinforced concrete structures, increased due to their shapes and angles, becoming a challenge for the project. By maintaining open communication among the design architects, structural engineers, and fabrication team, we were able to smoothly discuss and adopt appropriate solutions even for very challenging aspects of the overall steel construction. 【Case Overview】 ■Challenges - Complexity of the joints in the steel structure - Increased complexity of the joints between the steel and reinforced concrete structures due to their shapes and angles ■Result: We were able to adopt appropriate solutions *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [Tekla Structures Domestic Case Study] Takenaka Corporation

A case study utilizing Tekla Structures was published in the "Daily Construction Communication News."

In the November 29, 2024 issue of the "Daily Construction Communication Newspaper," a case study from our client was featured. "First in Japan to Apply 'Approval Within BIM Model'" The major general contractor, Takenaka Corporation, has completely eliminated traditional 2D detailed drawings and was the first in Japan to apply "Approval Within BIM Model." "We accomplished everything with the Tekla model instead of creating detailed drawings. The approval process has been shortened for both the general contractor and the steel fabricator due to the approval within the model, leading to a reduction in the creation of detailed drawings," they discussed the effects. For more details on this initiative that overturns the conventional wisdom of "not relying on drawings," please check out the article.
